Even as China's domestic heavy truck market digests policy transitions and seasonal weakness, one number keeps climbing: exports. Industry forecasts now put 2026 heavy truck exports at around 450,000 units, up roughly 32% year-on-year — adding about 110,000 units over 2025 and pushing total industry wholesale volume to an estimated 1.23–1.25 million units, the third-highest year in history.
September Exports Break Above 40,000 Units
The momentum is not slowing down. September 2026 wholesale exports are expected to top 40,000 units, up about 30% year-on-year — the strongest monthly export figure of the second half, and confirmation that overseas demand, not domestic stimulus, is the real story of 2026.
Where Are Chinese Heavy Trucks Going?
Based on industry research tracking 2026 exports, the regional map looks like this:
- Africa — the No.1 destination: roughly 45% of total exports, on course for 190,000–200,000 units this year. Infrastructure, mining and agriculture projects keep absorption capacity strong.
- Southeast Asia — around 25%: construction, plantation logistics and port transport drive steady demand.
- Latin America — the fastest riser: Chinese brands' share has climbed from just over 10% to more than 20% in key markets.
- Middle East and Central Asia — around 8% and 7% respectively: long-haul and construction demand remains resilient.
Together, these five regions absorb roughly 94% of China's heavy truck exports.
The Outlook: 70,000–80,000 Units a Year by 2030?
Analysts project that as African fleet renewal accelerates and Southeast Asian logistics expands, China's heavy truck exports could reach 700,000–800,000 units a year by 2030, with Africa alone potentially absorbing 600,000–800,000 units annually across all brands. For dealers and fleet operators, the message is clear: the Chinese truck ecosystem — vehicles, parts, financing and service — is building depth in your market right now, and early movers gain the best positions.
What Buyers Should Watch
A booming export market brings one challenge: popular configurations sell out fast. High-demand models such as the HOWO 6x4 371HP/375HP tractor and 10-wheel dump trucks often face longer lead times in peak season. Ordering early, confirming specifications clearly, and working with an experienced exporter who handles inspection, documentation and shipping are the three keys to a smooth purchase.
