On Friday, September 25, 2026, families across China — and millions of people around the world — will look up at the brightest full moon of the year. It is the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节), one of the most important traditional holidays in Chinese culture, and this year it falls on September 25 with the public holiday running from September 25 to 27.
The Festival of Reunion — and of the Road
The Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates reunion. Families gather to share mooncakes, light lanterns and admire the full moon, which symbolizes completeness and togetherness. The roundness of the moon and the roundness of the mooncake both carry the same wish: 人月两团圆 — may people and moon be whole and reunited.
For those of us in the transport industry, the festival has a special meaning. While families reunite, thousands of truck drivers will still be on the road — hauling grain, fuel, express parcels and festival goods so that the reunion at home happens on time. Every mooncake on a shop shelf, every lantern in a village square, arrived on a truck. We respectfully salute the drivers and logistics teams who spend this festival behind the wheel.
